A - Whats the point? B - Wouldn't that make it easier to get a flat?

A- As i see it, you don't need a 4k dollar pnematic tire changer to set the bead you can do this at your home as a "Shade Tree Mechanic" Most air compressors us guys own(assuming) dont have enough "umpf" to Set a bead on a tire like that In the video he is stretching the side wall which is even hard to do on a 4k dollar machine unless you have three guys and a ratchet strap
B- Setting the bead is setting the bead... as long as it seals it will not cause a flat and on a brand new tire it isnt hard to make it seal up nice when the mating surfaes are nice and smooth
C( well add another on)- Idk i come from a family of Rugged, Offroading Outdoorsman that love fire and this is a good way to set a bead on a tire when supplies are limited... And its FIRE and it Goes BOOM!!!
Hope that answers your questions

RE: Setting The Bead With Starter Fluid
Can anyone explain a useful reason for using such a mismatched size tire and rim?

And please tell me its not just for looks...

I'll never own a car younger than me

RE: Setting The Bead With Starter Fluid
Iron Foot... if i understand the science behind it the oxygen in side the tire only alows it to set the bead aput some tire pressure in it.... with the oxygen not being able to be let in it stops expanding the air inside the tire.... but ya i will make sure not to blow my face up lol

Coug if i understand the reasoning for streatching the mis matched tire and rim size
the guy that made the video talks about it here is what he wrote:
Pros:
- ability to afford smaller tire sizes
- ability to keep tread pattern within body work of car
- ability to fit tire and rim combination without body work
- eliminate or reduce tire side wall flex
- solid tire to road contact
- 'aids' in the decrease of body roll, the cushion effect is eliminated or reduced due to solid side walls.

Cons:
- tire is not designed for the amount of flex (but it holds)
- defeats the purpose of rim protectors on the tire
- illegal in (most) countries to use on public roads
- slight increase in tire wear
- decrease in ride comfort, side walls don't provide the "cushion" effect

with the body roll being important in the autocross like im sure he does so the less sidewall flex the faster he can take the turns

hope someone else can shime in since i dont autocross

My friend and i have done that before it works great but don't put to much spray or it'll really f*** stuff up we blew some shit apart just not paying enough att to what we were doing on an old potato truck tire that we played around in as kids on a ranch. my friend is def in his left ear now because of it.

RE: Setting The Bead With Starter Fluid
yeah that seems like it would be a good idea for the people that cant afford anything else, but its probably not a good idea. Im sure a wider tire is not going to cost that much more, and you can go to your local tire shop, and have it put on for 5 or 10 bucks. But good luck, hope it works for you
