Does anyone know how to use an ohm meter to check whether my cam position sensor is bad on 1990 eclipse 2.0 L turbo. I just bought a new ECU because the capacitors were fried.

My plug does not look like the one in Chilton manual, which shows four pins in a row. Mine is square with 4 pins. Looking at plug with notch on top, Black is at 11 o'clock, Red at 1 o'clock, then yellow, then white.

When I use ohm meter with 1.5 volt battery here is what I see.

Putting black test lead on BLACK pin and red test lead on RED pin I get 35,000 ohms (60 K if I reverse test leads).

Putting black test lead on BLACK pin and red test lead on YELLOW pin I get 25,000 ohms (open circuit if I reverse test leads).

Putting black test lead on BLACK pin and red test lead on WHITE pin I get 25,000 ohms (1,000,000 ohms if I reverse test leads).

Putting black test lead on RED pin and red test lead on YELLOW pin I get 80,000 ohms (open circuit if I reverse test leads).

Putting black test lead on RED pin and red test lead on WHITE pin I get 80,000 ohms (1,000,000 ohms if I reverse test leads).

Putting black test lead on YELLOW pin and red test lead on WHITE pin I get open circuit (100,000 ohms if I reverse test leads).

Does this type of test with sensor removed tell me anything?

If I turn the mechanism nothing changes in t he above readings.

Can you please give me a URL where I can learn how to test this device?

I want to know before I order a rebuilt one for $300.

I have installed a dual exhaust flowmaster on it. I want to put a cold air intake on it and make the engine compartment clean looking. Maybe put a roush turbo on it. Then put some new wheels on it. THe last thing I want to do is put a nice sound system in it. I have always wanted to put a plip out DVD player in the dash. Being in the military, I am always on field operations or deploying so I never get time. Well thats it for me right now.
